Rock and Fountain Inn, Restaurant & Hotel, Newport, South Wales

This lovely old inn has been extensively refurbished whilst retaining all its original character. The superb decor creates a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and our staff do their utmost to ensure that you enjoy your time here.

We pride ourselves on our food at the Rock and Fountain. The kitchen produces excellent quality food at very reasonable prices.  All our ingredients are sourced locally and food is cooked to order.  To see samples of our menus click here. 

The bar has a good selection of beer, including some real ales, wines and spirits. Check out our menus and events to see what’s on at the Rock and Fountain.   We do get very busy, particularly in the evenings so best book, especially important for groups of 6 or more.

But whilst our food and hospitality is very important to us, it isn’t all we do; we have two function rooms, one with a dedicated bar, upstairs that are perfect for private parties, auctions, conferences, etc.

We have 8 beautiful letting rooms that have been refurbished to a very high standard. These are available for long or short term lets. All of our rooms are ensuite and have comfy sofas and  their own kitchenette areas complete with combination ovens, washing machines, tea, coffee, etc. Breakfast is included with all room bookings. Three of our rooms also have their own sitting rooms.  Equally ideal for the business traveler or holiday maker. 

For getting out and about our location is amazing. We have three of the country's best golf courses to hand: Celtic Manor, home to the 2010 Ryder Cup, is only 5 miles away; St Pierre in Chepstow even closer; whilst the Rolls of Monmouth is within easy driving distance.  If history is your thing we have numerous castles in the immediate area, including the outstanding Caldicot Castle, which has been restored to much of its original condition and is the home of the mediaeval banquet.  For wine lovers we have a selection of award winning vineyards, including one bio dynamic, almost on our doorstep or if you prefer a spot of culture then both Bristol and Cardiff are less than 25 miles away. We are minutes away from the David Broome Centre and Chepstow Racecourse, home to the Welsh Grand National. And if that’s not enough to be getting on with, the stunning Wye Valley and all its attractions are a stone’s throw away.

We also have two function rooms upstairs which are perfect for weddings, family gatherings, auctions, conferences, etc.  The smaller of the two is the impressive library, which can seat up to twelve for more intimate gatherings.   We are in the process of putting together some fantastic all inclusive packages for your special day, be that wedding, birthday or other family occasion.
